Association for the care of 40 orphans
in the village of Weru-ini and surroundings in Central Kenya
40 children and their families live in a small village or at a maximum
distance of 5 km from a village. The families consist of a single
parent or a guardian and one or more children. One or both parents
are dead, often due to AIDS. The children are aged between 3 and
There are no streets, only sandy tracks. The houses are spread across
a large area and often difficult to reach. The schools these children
go to are state schools situated at a distance of up to 5 km. Weru-ini
is situated approx. 20 km from the town of Nanyuki.
We work together with Anne Karonji, a Kenyan woman from Nanyuki,
and we are going to support the children together with her, so that
in the future they will be able to take care of themselves and of
the younger children and give a hand when necessary.
At the moment, we are taking care of 40 children living in the village
of Weru-ini and we want to support these children so that they have
sufficient food available, are no longer hungry and can visit school
regularly and achieve good results.
By buying land we want to make sure that within 8-10 years these
children or the community respectively have a future and are able
• grow vegetables and fruit.
• keep cows and goats to produce milk and meat.
• Besides we want to arrange support to discover and
use the qualities of these children
First of all, we want them to become self-sufficient, but we also
want to enable them to sell produce and thus earn money to buy things
for the children (school).
• Sponsors help to improve the school results of the children
• Sponsors to build plots of land, build a workshop to help
the children to develop
• Personal guidance to teach the children how to use their
